Zabeth Bayne – Piano Teacher

Zabeth is certified through the Royal Conservatory Of Music from which she obtained her Performance Degree with First Class Honors. She has over 30 years experience in teaching both group and private lessons to all ages from beginner to advanced. The courses she teaches includes all beginner course programs, Royal Conservatory, Conservatory Canada, popular music, ear training, technical studies, chamber music, improvisation, jazz and more. She also teaches all theory programs including Rudiments of Theory, Analysis, History of Music, Harmony of Music and Counterpoint.

She has an extensive background in performance and has performed with members from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the UBC Orchestra. She has done performances in chamber groups, piano duos, piano duets and solos. She has experience in adjudicating and has provided adjudications for local and international music competitions for both instrumental and vocal performances. As an accompanist she has provided services for music competitions, events and examinations. This includes instrumental solo, vocal solos and choirs.

Bethany Bayne – Piano Teacher

Bethany has been studying piano since the age of six years old. She has been working through the Royal Conservatory of Music program and has completed her Grade 9 RCM. Bethany has completed the corresponding theory courses as required by the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Bethany is well familiar with all beginner piano methods such as Bastien, Alfred, Faber, Michael Aaron and more. She incorporates a balance of technique, studies, ear training, sight reading, improvisation and repertoire studies in her lessons.

Bethany’s love of music has instilled in her a desire to share this passion with her students. She has a friendly and warm personality and loves to motivate and encourage her students.

Stella Hui – Piano Teacher

Stella Hui is a Vancouver-based performer, collaborative pianist, and pedagogue, and her schedule is often busy with teaching students and rehearsing for her next performance. A recent graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Music degree in piano performance, she was the recipient of The Edgar Raymond Martin Memorial Scholarship in Music as well as a Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies (2019-2020).

In addition to receiving her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia (2014), she holds an ARCT diploma for performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, along with a Fellowship Diploma from the Trinity College of London. Her esteemed teachers include Dr. Kristina Szutor and Professor Miranda Wong.

Stella was trained in piano pedagogy under the tutelage of UBC professor Alice Enns and is dedicated to both music education and performance. She maintains her private piano studio and has been teaching for over ten years. Her students have received first place awards for outstanding performances in music festivals and have earned first class honours with distinction in RCM examinations. She strongly encourages her pupils to become well-rounded musicians and is passionate about instilling a lifelong appreciation for music, art, and culture in her students. Stella teaches piano lessons in English and is also able to communicate with students through conversational Cantonese.

In addition to her teaching and collaborative work, Stella regularly performs at weddings and functions. Her diverse musical background and experiences allow her to move freely between traditional Classical repertoire and contemporary musical idioms

Karen Swarts – Piano Teacher

Karen Swarts is a music teacher from Cape Town, South Africa. She has 16 years of experience teaching the piano, having taught learners of all ages and levels over the years. She has taught at numerous schools and is currently Subject Head of Music at a girl’s high school. She teaches classical piano, music theory, music history, aural training and conducts the school orchestra. She also prepares students for external music examinations (Trinity, ABRSM). She has a keen interest in a variety of musical styles, accompanies and has participated in numerous orchestras, percussion and contemporary music ensembles.

Karen was introduced to the piano at the age of five and continued to study music and the piano throughout her academic years. She obtained the Bachelor of Music degree from Stellenbosch University with piano and percussion as instruments. She furthered her studies by obtaining the BMus Honors degree the following year and also holds a Master’s degree in Ethnomusicology, thereby broadening her cultural and musical interests through the study of indigenous music of South Africa. She also obtained the Post Graduate Certificate in Education through the University of South Africa with the focus on teaching English and Music.

Jackson Cau – Piano Teacher

Jackson grew up in Ottawa Ontario and started his musical career at the age of three with The Music for Young Children (MYC) Program. He continued with private lessons in classical piano and theory, completing grade nine and theory grade six with Conservatory Canada.

Jackson received his Bachelor of Music with Honours, from the University of Western Ontario, including a specialization in music theory while studying under Troy Ducharme and John Cuciurean in 2020.

Jackson believes in a positive experience to nurture a love for music. He is a passionate and dedicated teacher who specializes in classical piano and theory. He is patient and strives to make every lesson engaging. His teaching method is based on a combination of ear training, MYC technique and technical skills, while providing knowledge of theory and the history of music. His lessons offer a tailored approach to meet the needs of each student, and to provide his students with the tools to further explore the music they love
